Paper Title
Analysis of The Structure and Determinants of The Manufacturing Sector Across Indian States

Abstract
The Indian economic development pattern is not only unusual, but also rare, when one compares it to the economic development paths followed by other developing and developed countries. The countries such as Singapore, Taiwan, South Korea and China achieved economic growth by initially giving priority to the manufacturing sector. It was after producing tangible outputs and generating innovations in the manufacturing sector that in the abovementioned countries, the services sector emerged as the biggest and leading sector in economic growth. Therefore, the present study attempts to study the variations in the structure of the manufacturing sector explained through the registered and unregistered manufacturing division and also on the basis of the used-based classification of goods into consumer goods, capital goods, basic & intermediate goods and miscellaneous goods across the various states of India for the time period from 1980-1981 to 2015-2016 divided into four sub-periods to facilitate inter-temporal analysis. Further, the factors contributing towards the increasing variations in the structure of this sector have also been studied using OLS – regression model. The results depict that per-capita income of a state signifying the level of development of the states and regional disparities on the basis of location of the states significantly impact the manufacturing development.
