Work Motivation among Employees: A Comparative Analysis of Technical & Administrative Staff

Abstract
The present study aimed to know the work motivation among technical and administrative departments in private sector. It also aimed to explore work motivation with reference to level of experience. The Work Extrinsic and Intrinsic Motivation Scale (WEIMS) 18 items scale was used for the study, it is divided into three item six subscales which corresponds to six types of motivation postulated by SDT. The sample constituted of 132 employees out of which 58 were from administrative department and 74 were from technical department. The data was collected from private sector of Ahmedabad City. The data was scored, analyzed with F test and mean was calculated. The result shoed that employees working in technical department have more work motivation than those working in administrative department. Also, it was also found out that employees with more than 10 years of work experience had more motivation than those having less than 10 years of experience.
