Paper Title
Synthesis & Analysis of Ordered Mesoporous Silica to Remove Heavy Metals for Water Remediation Application

Abstract
Wastewater contains the lot of heavy metals which are hazards for human health. We have done the study which describes the total removal of heavy metal ions from waste-water using the functionalized ordered mesoporous silica MCM-41.Ordered mesoporous silica is synthesized by hydrothermal process using sodium silicate as a precursor & simple precipitation of silica. The functionalized silica contains the thiol group from organosilane which is obtained from grafting of ordered mesoporous silica at room tempreture. The obtained silica is highly ordered having hexagonal shape, with high surface area in the range of 1000 m2/g. This material is used for adsorption of heavy metal ion coming from waste-water at room temperature, where the heavy metal binds to thiol group of ordered mesoporous silica. These was predicted from the elemental & XPS analysis of before & after binding heavy metal to silica .We have compared the adsorption efficiency with standard adsorbent which shows better result for functionalized ordered mesoporous silica.
