Abstract
Ginger known as Zingiber officinale, is a herbal remedy that can be taken as a supplement in the form of capsules, tablets, essential oil or herbal tinctures. The thyroid generates two hormones, Tri-iodothyronine and Thyroxine, which govern the body's metabolism and flow through the blood to all body organs. The thyroid gland's actions are controlled by the pituitary gland. Hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism are two hormone levels produced by the thyroid gland. Thyroid disease, such as thyroiditis, is linked to chronic inflammation in the body, which can harm the thyroid. Thyroid hormones regulate metabolism, which may be influenced by ginger, is high in vital minerals like potassium and magnesium and aids in the reduction of inflammation is one of the leading causes of thyroid disease. Ginger contains magnesium, which has been shown to be critical in controlling the thyroid disease by muscle relaxation and prevents the development of an irregular heartbeat. Ginger also contains potassium and mineral essential to regulatethe body fluids. Other nutrients include Vitamin B6, Copper and Magnesium and Gingerol has an antioxidant properties. The present study has shown that the compounds in ginger have pharmacological properties that are similar to Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) and some of main compounds include Gingerols, Shogaols, Paradols, and Zingerone. This study is focusedto evaluate the efficacy of ginger using different doses on thyroid gland functioning in the representative populations and also assess the impact of medicinal efficacy in patients to treat the thyroid symptoms.
