Paper Title
Hydrochemical Characterisation and Suitability Appraisal of Groundwater in Rural Areas Around Chhata, Mathura, India

Abstract
This paper investigates the groundwater characteristics of the Chhata district of Mathura, an industrial city in India. Ultimately, it provides a primary assessment for the suitability of groundwater in Chhata for drinking purposes. Our study employs a hydrochemical characterization of different water quality parameters in the collected samples. After that, various indices and ratios have been evaluated and compared to prescribed standards intending to appraise the suitability of underground water for irrigation and drinking. An in-depth literature study was carried out to extract secondary data from reports, research papers, theses, and other publications to determine how groundwater in Mathura has been affected by industrial activities. Based on our assessments, the groundwater was found to be unfit for drinking purposes due to the presence of excess fluoride, chlorine and calcium.
