Quality of Life Among Women with Gynecological Cancer at B.P. Koirala Memorial Cancer Hospital”

Background of the study: Cancer affects quality of life and healthy life style in patients in a negative way. Quality of life is a multidimensional concept, which is defined as a “subjective evaluation of attributes that characterize one’s life. Objectives: To assess the quality of life among women with gynecological cancer and its association with the selected demographic variables Methods: Descriptive cross-sectional study adopted to a 95 respondents using purposive sampling. Data were collected by semi structured questionnaire through interview. Result: Two third (66.3%) of the respondents had higher quality of life and one third (33.7%) of them had lower quality of life. The mean score of quality of life in different domain were the highest (66.73±10.31) seen in psychological domain. Study showed that the statistically significant association of overall quality of life with treatment received (p=0.02) and emotional change after diagnosis of cancer (p=0.01). Conclusion: It is concluded that the quality of life of women with gynecological cancer has more effect on social relationship and is better among the respondents who received multiple therapies than those received single therapy.
