Design and Development of Al-SiC Composite Spur Gear under Static Loading Condition

Abstract
Al-SiC composite are currently widely used in structure, automobile, aerospace and many other sectors. As the world is moving toward the electronic vehicles, where reducing weight of the vehicle is the most challenging task. Lightweight gear design and manufacturing becomes the most needful in the current time. In the same order, in this work design and development of Al-SiC composite spur gear was carried out through FEM. Effect of different percentage of SiC in Al composite was also analyzed through numerical analysis. The value of Von-misses stress and deformation was measure for each composition. Through FEM it was found that the Al-7.5%SiC composite shows better performance as compared to other composition of Al-SiC composite.
