Recent Developments and Challenges on Micro Grid Optimal Energy Management and Fault Detection Systems – A Review
Abstract
Nowadays, the demand for electricity is increased due to the increase in the economic and population growth through out the planet. This increased the pressure on the power sector. Hence, a Micro grid(MG)is a solution for integrating renew able energy resources in to the power system. The micro grid is operate ding rid-connected or islanded modes so that it can generate, distribute, and regulate the power flow to local consumers. But, energy management in these systems is a challenging problem. Also, micro grids commonly experience a massive amount of fault, which disrupts the stable operation of the power system. Faults in a micro grid can cause inst abilities, inefficient power generation, and other losses. So, fast detection and isolation of faults in a micro grid are of primary importance. Recently, many techniques are used and are still in use for efficient energy management in micro grids and also for solving the problem of fault detection to enable its stable operation. This review paper high lights the latest studies regarding energy management and fault detection in micro grids. At last, the performance of the research studies is compared in terms of power, Mean Absolute Percentage Error(MAPE)and operation cost.
