Paper Title
Effect of Photocatalytic Nanocoating on the Shelf-Life of Tomatoes

Abstract
India is in major producers of tomatoes after China instead of this fact only 0.48% of tomatoes were exported in year 2021-22.The loss of tomatoes (Solanumlycopersicum L.)or their transformation into inedible forms before they reach the intended customers is a major problem. Surface coating of tomatoes (Solanum lycopersicum L.)is required as these are very soft, metabolically active, easily perishable, and susceptible, having short shelf life and are highly fragile, leading to the high incidence of post-harvest diseases. This study aims to determine whether coatings containing nanoparticles can extend the shelf life of tomatoes after harvest. Transition metal oxides in nanoform are used to prepare the coating solution. Nanocoating solution induces the production of reactive oxygen species in presence of light through the photocatalytic process, which participates and affects the physiological and cellular processes of the microbes.
