Paper Title
Innovative Teaching-Learning Method- Eklavya (एकलव्य) Method for Identification of Dental Forceps
Abstract
Introduction: In the Era of a Knowledge-Based Society, Collaborative Teaching Learning And Innovative Teaching Techniques Have A Significant Role. Time Has Changed From Teacher-Centered Learning To A Student-Centered Interactive Learning Environment. Learners Will Learn Better When He Or She Constructs Their Own Knowledge1. Vygostsky Noticed Learners Can Achieve Their "Zone Of Proximal Development" With The Help Of Capable Peer2. According To Cognitive Theory3 Learner Will Construct Knowledge Better When He Or She Feels Or Palpates The Instrument Using One Of His/Her Senses Of The Body (Touch). The Author Gave The Learners A Discussion On Dental Forceps Using A Very Innovative Technique Named Eklavya (एकलव्य) Method Which Will Be Helpful For Not Only Viva But Also For Clinical Significance.
Eklavya (एकलव्य) Method for Identification of Dental Forceps Technique: The author gave the learners a discussion on the identification of dental forceps with an innovative technique named the Eklavya (एकलव्य) method. The discussion started with an introduction and details about dental forceps. This is a bit difficult topic for the learners to grasp and remember on the first attempt. The author when started with this innovative technique, the learners were excited to learn in a new way which was never been done before. All the learners based on the discussion were asked one by one to identify the forceps with open eyes. After that, they were asked to close their eyes one by one and asked to identify the forceps by feeling or palpating the forceps. Learners were graded based on their performance. This continued until all the learners were able to identify the forceps correctly.
Conclusion: Learners reviewed this Eklavya (एकलव्य) method which they found it was very helpful. This collaborative technique made learners' understanding easy and innovative.
