Paper Title
Documenting Synthetic Enamel on Artificial Jewellery

Abstract
Enamel, known in India as Meenakari, has been practised for over six hundred years. We have inherited elaborately executed metalware, jewellery, and artefacts, enamelled on gold and silver, and encrusted with precious stones. The cost of making and buying enamelled jewellery is prohibitive today leading to the use of synthetic colours and mimicking enamel on imitation jewellery. This research paper aims to document the process of synthetic enamel and real enamel. The findings of this paper are based on an actual market survey, the difficulties faced and practical documentation of using the synthetic material. Comparison between the two techniques in terms of cost, time, labour and skills required is documented. Keywords - Mina, Meena, Synthetic, Artificial Jewellery, Ornaments.
