Paper Title
Influence of Transcendental Strengths on the Well-Being of Youth in Crisis

Abstract
Transcendental strengths are known to contribute to an individual’s well-being. The aim of this paper is to study the role that hope, humour, gratitude, and spirituality play in the psychological well-being of an individual experiencing crisis. For a better understanding, the paper looks at crisis as a subjective experience which causes the client significant distress. A mixed method analysis was carried out for better understanding of crisis and coping mechanisms. The quantitative analysis investigates how men and women cope differently- women on an average display a higher level of gratitude whereas men display humour and hope more. The qualitative analysis highlights the themes of crisis such as fear of the unknown (such as their career), lack of control over circumstances or the inability to be self-efficacious. These results can be explored further and may add to the richness in study of mental health and especially positive psychology.
