Digital Transformation in Indian Higher Education: Pre and Post Covid-19

Abstract
Abstract - Importance of Digital transformation in higher education sector reached at peak during Covid-19. The study aims to assess how digital transformation has impacted higher education system, both Pre and Post Covid-19 pandemic though literature review. In order to make online learning more sustainable, advantages and disadvantages of online learning are discussed. Study finds that plans to overcome barriers faced by all stakeholders will create new opportunities to work on. Due to overnight closure of education campuses, lot of vulnerabilities are suffered by economically poor communities that too is highlighted in this article. Like students, teachers were also new to suddenly adopted smart technologies in pedagogy. Training and capacity building of teaching staff and related stakeholder is a need of an hour. Government of India has taken initiative to convert this barrier into the opportunities and boost digital transformation by formulating NEP 2020. All though digital transformation is well known idea, proper strategy for successful digital transformation in higher education sector is found missing that have been focused now in order to meet the growing demand for online, flexible and remote learning options. Overall, study finds that Indian higher education sector is now ready to adopt this transformation smoothly and to take it as an opportunity to build nation’s education system on global map.
