NEP 2020: Inclusion of Academic Bank of Credit (ABC)

Abstract
Abstract - The National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 outlines the vision of India’s new education policy and emphases on key reforms in higher education, it aims to build the young competitive minds to adapt and bit new digital age changes. The five pillars of NEP are; Affordability, Accessibility, Quality, Equity and Accountability that ensures continual learning. It has been developed considering the needs of the citizens as a demand for knowledge in society and economy called for a need to acquire new skills on a regular basis. NEP aims to provide quality education and offers the opportunities for lifelong learning, those who are looking for productive employment and decent work. It has transformed the framework of both elementary and higher education. It focuses on multidisciplinary, digital literacy, written communication, logical reasoning, problem solving and vocational exposure. Education policy of a Nation exhibits its growth and development plan which supports the human potential and development index. The NEP 2020 is a dynamic step of The Ministry of Human Resource Development to provide universal high- quality education that will govern the future of India. In every district or near by district NEP aims to establish a minimum one multidisciplinary HEI. Thus, by 2035 the increase in Gross Enrollment Ratio in higher education could reach upto 50% from 26.3% in 2018. As per new NEP, HEI shall have flexibility in Master’s programme. This is student- centric and student friendly policy, it allows the students to choose their entry and exit points. The traditional education system is totally revamped with the inclusion of ABC i.e. Academic Bank of Credits. It is a significant transformation from traditional to student centric policy. Students can earn their credits which could be banked and restored as per choice of the student. The policy, therefore supports the integration of institutes and Universities where the students can be shifted for their convenience.
