‘Self Help Group (Shg) is an Apparatus of Women Empowerment’ with Reference to Sangli District, Maharashtra

Abstract
Abstract - The true empowerment takes place when women challenge discrimination on the basis of gender to improve their well-being. Self Help Group (SHG) is an instrument to empower the women socially and economically which would have an implication on the overall development of the women. “Women need Development-Development need women” Sangli district is a draught prone area. As a result, there is low income, low yield and low productivity. The employment is seasonal and frictional. It is too small income to sustain for families, only hand to mouth living. Hence, self helf groups have plenty of scope in Sangli District for women employment and development. In view of the above, the aim of this paper is to analyze the impact of SHG on women Empowerment with reference to Sangli.
